19.01.2009

The EDAPS Consortium has signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) to design for this organization a prototype e-passport with the most advanced security elements.

In the presence of INTERPOL Secretary General, Ronald K. Noble, the Memorandum was signed by Elaine Dezenski, Managing Director of INTERPOL’s Global Security Initiative, and Alexander Vassiliev, EDAPS Consortium Chairman of Board of Directors.

The INTERPOL prototype e-passport is the first of its kind to be designed for the organization and will incorporate a range of security features including a polycarbonate data page, laser engraving, laser perforation, holographic, micrographic and optical security elements, filigree and an electronic chip. The prototype will then be presented to INTERPOL’s Executive Committee and the Heads of INTERPOL’s National Central Bureaus for their approval. (from the INTERPOL’s website)

“We are proud to have such a possibility to design a prototype ID for the world’s largest law enforcement organisation. Cooperation between INTERPOL and EDAPS Consortium proves high potential of joined work of public and corporate sectors, and we hope that it is the beginning of close cooperation in supporting INTERPOL and its leading role in the world’s law enforcement community”, said Alexander Vassiliev, EDAPS Consortium Chairman of the Board.

Ronald K. Noble highly appreciated achievements of Ukraine and EDAPS Consortium in ID issuance and security. At the press conference he said to the journalists: “The new Ukrainian passport is amazing. I am not the citizen of Ukraine, but if I were, I should be proud of it”.

Both organizations will further keep their partnership in promoting anti-counterfeiting technologies to enhance combat against global forgery of products and piracy, which negatively influence health and security of customers, national income, innovations and foreign investments.

Following the principles of its business approach, EDAPS supports socio-economic projects on ensuring secure world without counterfeiting and falsification.

Global Security Initiative for XXI century promoted by INTERPOL is the basis of universal strategy for effective cooperation between states, international organizations and corporate sectors.

The strategic initiative GSI adopted by INTERPOL General Assembly in October 2008 includes five core areas: Global Security, Secure Global Infrastructure, Training and Capacity Building, Global Partnerships and Innovation.

The EDAPS Consortium produces one of the most secure passports in the world that prevents photo forgery or any other counterfeiting. EDAPS anti-counterfeiting technologies are used to secure documents of various types and products, including ID documents, medicine, audio visual goods, tobacco goods, alcohol drinks, diamonds, jewellery items and many other goods in tens of world countries.
