The EDAPS Consortium brings Ukraine the distinction of being the second country in the world to own cutting edge technology for de-metallization of super-high resolution holograms.
Specialized Enterprise “Holography,” a member of the EDAPS Consortium, has developed and is ready to implement a new technology for de-metallization of super-high resolution holograms.
This technology is successfully used to protect high security documents and currency of more than 15 countries (such security elements are used in the Euro, as well as currencies of Great Britain, Bulgaria, Singapore, and other countries). The de-metallization technology is also used in the Schengen visa.
On February 4 the EDAPS Consortium held a special event in Kiev (Ukraine) to present the new technology. Representatives from the Ukrainian government and the media attended the presentation.
The experts from the special enterprise “Holography” were able to dramatically increase the resolution of holograms. The increase in resolution allows creating new security elements that are easily visible to the naked eye and impossible to counterfeit.
The Consortium takes special pride in the fact that the technology developed by the Specialized Enterprise “Holography” allows to achieve a much higher resolution than the one offered by a similar Swiss technology (“zero.zero”), which is considered to be one of the leading technologies in the world today.
“We managed to do what the Swiss could not,” said Andrei Timoshenko, Production Director of the Specialized Enterprise “Holography,” as he was demonstrating the enterprise’s product samples. According to Mr. Timoshenko, the Specialized Enterprise “Holography” has the capacity to produce up to 1 million holographic images per month.
“I am honored to present the new technology developed and produced by Ukrainian scientists. There is much talk in our country about innovative technologies and innovative models for business and economic development. At the same time, only 4 percent of products in this country are manufactured using new innovative technologies. In the meantime, there are enterprises that place innovative technologies at the very the heart of their business. One of such enterprises is the Consortium,” stated Georgiy Beilin, member of the Consortium’s Supervisory Board.
The main goal of the EDAPS Consortium is to provide personal security for individuals, the nation, and to guarantee security of their clients’ businesses. The issue of security is extremely important, because counterfeit documents and products cause a lot of harm for nations and their citizens.
The “Holography” products are widely known both in the Ukrainian and international market. Due to the 2003 program that implemented excise tax stamps with holographic security elements for alcohol and tobacco, the Ukrainian budget received more than $4,75 billion in 2004-2006.
Note. The EDAPS Consortium was formed in 2004. Areas of activity: development and implementation of identification documents and other high security documents. The Consortium includes 9 companies: VTI company (Open Joint Stock Company KP VTI), Specialized Enterprise “Holography,” Incom Corporation, Znak Ltd., Polly-Service Ltd., Zorya Polygraphic Combine, Commercial Industrial Bank, State Enterprise “State center for document personalization”, “3T” Firm.
The largest government projects of the Consortium in Ukraine include: 2003—government program involving production of excise tax stamps with holographic security elements and implementing an accounting and control system for excise stamps; since 2005—government program implementing a new plastic national driver’s license and vehicle registration cards; since June 2007— government program implementing a new Ukrainian foreign passport with a polycarbonate data page. According to the experts from the ICAO, the new Ukrainian passport is among the top five passports in the world.
