The Swiss recognized that some Ukrainian developments in the passport system surpass the Swiss achievements

The delegation of the Federal Migration Department of Switzerland currently visiting Kiev noted gradual improvement of the passport system of Ukraine as well as recognized Ukraine’s surpassing of Switzerland in some types of developments in the field.

The Press Service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that during the working meetings the delegates had the opportunity to obtain further details related to activity of subdivisions of the State Department on Affairs of Citizenship, Immigration and Registration of Physical Persons of Ukraine as well as study the samples of new passport documents both for domestic and international use. The delegates also had the opportunity to learn about the efforts of Ukrainian law enforcement authorities to maintain close control over passport documents issuance, as well as planned establishment of the unified system for passport documents registration including technical support, data-bases generation, data communication and protection of information channels.

The problems to be discussed within the framework of the negotiations between the Ukrainian law enforcement authorities and the representatives of the Federal Migration Department of Switzerland shall include general issues related to Ukrainian-Swiss Agreement of Re-admission, in particular the issue on documents issuance regarding readmission and identification of their Ukrainian citizenship.

On the basis of the results both parties intend to sign the relevant memorandums of intent.
